Bioremidation Phytoremdiation Petroleum Contaminated Soil Project Details
| Abstract |
This research project looks at how to combine bioremediation and phytoremediation to clean up soil contaminated with petroleum. Hydrocarbon pollution in soil is a longβlasting problem, so we need sustainable and efficient cleanup methods. By using microbesβeither those already in the soil or added onesβtogether with plants that can take up contaminants and stabilize the root zone, we hope to speed up the breakdown of complex organic pollutants. The study measures key environmental factors that affect how fast remediation happens, such as soil moisture, temperature, choice of plant species, and how microbial populations change. We use controlled experiments and computer models of contaminant movement and breakdown to compare how well
each method works alone versus together. The results give practical advice for tuning siteβspecific variables, show the limits of using only one method, and outline a full framework for ecological restoration. In the end, the project aims to create scalable, ecoβfriendly procedures for restoring soil health in industrial and oilβpolluted areas.
