Power Quality Issues Mitigation Methods Project Details
| Abstract |
Renewable energy sources are being added to todayβs power grids, but they bring many powerβquality problems. This project looks at those problemsβharmonics, voltage sags, swells, and transientsβand at the technologies used to fix them. The main goal is to compare active power filters (APFs) and the ways they are controlled when the load changes quickly. To meet the challenges, we model and simulate a hybrid active power filter (HAPF) that can supply reactive power and cut harmonic currents. The work includes building a mathematical model of the HAPF, applying control algorithms based on the instantaneous activeβreactive power (pβq) theory, and checking the results with simulations. This framework gives a stepβbyβstep
guide for testing powerβquality improvement methods and for designing strong filters in modern distributedβgeneration networks. The study provides a clear method to evaluate how well the mitigation works, how much total harmonic distortion (THD) is reduced, and how stable the system remains.
