Proportional Resonance Control Application Photovoltaic Project Details

Abstract

This project implements and tests an adaptive proportional resonance (APR) controller for a 500 kW photovoltaic grid‑connected voltage‑source inverter (VSI). Conventional proportional‑integral (PI) controllers and phase‑locked loops (PLL) have trouble when the grid frequency varies, so we first create a mathematical model of the three‑phase VSI in the stationary reference frame. The new control scheme adds an automatic parameter‑tuning block and a frequency‑locked loop (FLL) to keep frequency and phase aligned. The FLL uses a resonant adaptive filter together with a perturbation‑based extremum‑seeking (PES) algorithm, which reduces tracking errors during grid disturbances. Simulations and models evaluate the APR controller on steady‑state current error, ability to follow frequency changes, phase‑shift reduction,

and selective harmonic compensation. Results show that the APR controller tracks quickly without static error and handles grid voltage disturbances better than traditional PI dual‑loop controllers. This makes it a solid reference for high‑power grid‑tied solar power systems.
