Techno-Economic Assessment Hydrogen-Assisted Hybrid Renewable Project Details

Abstract

Off‑grid power for remote areas is hard to provide because solar and wind are not always available. This study looks at a hybrid microgrid that combines renewable generation with hydrogen storage. The storage system uses fuel cells, electrolyzers, and hydrogen tanks. We model each part of the system to see how it performs thermodynamically and electrically under different weather and load conditions. Then we run optimization algorithms to find the best sizes for the photovoltaic panels, wind turbines, battery banks, and hydrogen components. The goal is to lower the Net Present Cost (NPC) and the Cost of Energy (COE) while keeping the power supply reliable. We also perform sensitivity analyses.

These tests show how changes in fuel prices, component efficiencies, and capital costs affect the system’s economic viability. The resulting framework gives a clear way to evaluate hydrogen‑assisted microgrids. It shows how green hydrogen can serve as long‑term storage, reduce renewable curtailment, and improve resilience for remote, off‑grid applications.
