Design Experimental Validation Short Range Project Details
| Abstract |
Underwater wireless communication has big problems because radio waves are quickly absorbed by conductive water, and acoustic modems offer low bandwidth, high latency, and high cost. To work around these issues, this research looks at a lowβcost, shortβrange underwater visibleβlight (LiβFi) system that can send text. The setup uses an Arduino to control both the transmitter and the receiver. The receiver includes a transimpedance amplifier circuit. By increasing the feedback resistor from 220 kΞ© to 1 MΞ©, the detection range improves from a few centimeters to several meters while keeping the signal reliable. Doubleβconvex lenses are placed at the transmitter and receiver to focus and collect the light, reducing beam
spread and waterβinduced scattering. Binary data are decoded using a simple threshold decision, and the results are checked in real time on a serial monitor. For M.Tech researchers, this system provides a baseline for studying optical attenuation models, optimizing transimpedance amplifier designs, and evaluating how water turbidity affects bit error rate (BER) performance.
