Li-Fi Driven Underwater Communication Advancements Project Details
| Abstract |
Underwater wireless communication using ordinary radioβfrequency (RF) waves works poorly because water absorbs and attenuates those signals a lot. Optical wireless communicationβspecifically Light Fidelity (LiβFi)βoffers a faster alternative for shortβ to mediumβrange underwater links. This project models and evaluates a LiβFiβbased underwater system that aims to reduce environmental interference, signal distortion, and range limits. The approach uses advanced modulation methods, adaptive beamforming algorithms, and highβperformance optical transceivers to improve the link budget and signalβtoβnoise ratio (SNR) in turbid water. Simulations test how water turbidity, absorption, and scattering affect optical signal propagation. The results give practical guidance for building reliable optical links for autonomous underwater vehicles (AUVs), oceanographic sensor networks, and
environmental monitoring systems. By comparing modulation depth, beam divergence, and receiver sensitivity, the project creates a framework that boosts energy efficiency and data throughput in future underwater optical wireless networks.
